| Abstract | A new fossil stag beetle (Lucanidae), Litholamprima qizhihaoi sp. nov., is described and figured from two well-preserved specimens from the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation in western Liaoning, China (125 Ma). Aditionally, new material of female specimens of the genus Litholamprima Nikolajev & Ren, 2015 provide further evidence for the taxonomic position of other fossil stag beetles that share a similar habitus with species of Litholamprima. The new discovery enriches our knowledge of the biodiversity and early evolutionary history of stag beetles during the Cretaceous.(c) 2022 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. |
