Abstract | Borehole core provides a series of working materials for research in paleontology. stratigraphy, and tectonics. This study demonstrates a tree-like lycopsid species of Sublepidodendron from the Upper Devonian Wu tong Formation, 2063.8 to 2057.0 m depth of the CSDP-2 Well, Yellow Sea, China. The new plant consists of a slender leafy stem, persistent leaves, fusi form leaf bases, spoon-like shaped sporophylls, and megaspores. Morphology and distribution of the genus Sublepidodendron is discussed. Sublepidodendron species are widely distributed from the Upper Devonian to Lower Carboniferous all around the world. Morphological discrimination of its dozens of spedes is needed to uncover its disposal mysteries during the Late Devonian. (C) 2022 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. |
