摘要	Parapetala liaoningensis gen. et sp. nov. is described from the Lower Cretaceous of China. It has a very basal position in the clade Aeshnoptera (Odonata. Petalura, Spec. 2 (1996) 402), basal or close to the Upper Jurassic family Mesuropetalidae. This discovery confirms the high diversity of this group of dragonflies during the Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous, suggesting rapid evolution of this clade in the Early or Middle Jurassic.
